An Update From Trees For Tomorrow Today
A Word From Trees For Tomorrow Today’s Leadership
The TFTT business foundation was completed at year's end...and the most exciting for us was submitting our 501(c)(3) nonprofit application along with a letter requesting to expedite approval of our application stating the urgent purpose of our TFTT project.
Our request letter seemed to help...as we received our IRS Determination Letter approving our nonprofit application in under 3 weeks. That was very exciting and encouraging for us. The speed of IRS approval confirms our vision is extremely important...and this now let's us move forward with our fundraising plans to grow our project.
Since we now are an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit...we can actively start seeking grants and other funding and donations from the community.
At the same time...we have been busy expanding our Grow Hubs network and we have 5 active grow hubs working together growing our trees for the Lahaina families.
We are thankful to have growers with many talents sharing their efforts and supporting each other. This teamwork between our grow hubs has been impressive and working out really great for us and our project.
In particular...we are very fortunate to have one grower specializing in starting our seeds and passing them on to other growers. This has been a tremendous benefit in getting our tree seeds started and sharing them with our other grow hubs who prepare them for long term growth.
We also continue to get many wonderful donations of seeds and grow materials to help our project continue to expand. As we don't yet have funds to buy anything...all these seed donations are a blessing and very much appreciated.
So far we have received seed donations from PlantAloha on the Big Island and from other local Maui nurseries, including receiving over 1,500 Milo Tree seeds donated by one individual.
With this large donation of seeds added to our earlier donations...our total is now over 2,000 seeds and saplings.
What’s Next?!
Social Media - we understand the importance of using Social Media to promote our TFTT project. We are currently working on setting up our social media program for TFTT and putting on our public face...and present our vision for all to share and work together to make it happen.
We now have a Facebook page that we will keep adding to and building...and we are setting up a Linkedin account and others to start developing our social media networks and connections. We intend to continue to build our social media base and start our fundraising strategies as soon as possible.
It's been a fast and productive four months and it takes a good team cooperating and working hard to get us this far so fast.
Everyone on our TFTT team deserves thanks and a lot of credit for working together to reach our goals for the Lahaina families.
Thank you all for your wonderful efforts...and I am personally proud of our TFTT team for all that we have accomplished in such a short time.
Our thanks also to FSH for their support and we hope we can help them in their program as well.
Mahalo to everyone for your great support and team efforts to help the Lahaina families recover as fast as possible.
